During the event, the recipient of the prize will have the opportunity to meet the audience and to relate with young aspiring filmmakers from all over the world.

Every year the Artistic Commission of the SFF will identify a master of international cinema who, during his career, has distinguished himself for artistic sensibility and commitment in promoting film art, contributing to the enrichment of knowledge, especially in young people.

In this edition, during the Alghero appointment from 26th June to 1st July 2017, the Award has been assigned to the Hungarian director Béla Tarr, a cult figure of European cinema and winner of the Silver Bear Award in Berlin 2011.
